JKX Oil & Gas Plc announced in a press release that it has successfully completed and tested appraisal well Z-05 in the Zaplavskoye exploration license at Poltava, Ukraine. Following cleanup, the well flowed at a stabilized rate of 130 Mcm/d (4.6 MMcf/d) and 328 b/d of condensate through a 50/64-in. choke with a flowing wellhead pressure of 652 psi. The well is now flowing to the production facility.
Appraisal well Z-05 follows the successful exploration well Z-04, which was drilled in 2012, and the 3-D seismic survey earlier this year over this recently acquired extension to the Zaplavskoye exploration license, according to the press release. Logging and production data from both wells will be used to aid interpretation of the complex stratigraphic traps in the license before selecting the location for a third new well in the area.
Well Z-05 was initially drilled to a total depth of 2,960 m (9,711 ft), but the Visean reservoirs were found to be poorly developed at the primary target close to the stratigraphic pinchout. The well was then sidetracked to the secondary target approximately 190 m (623 ft) to the north where the Visean V25 and V26 sandstone reservoirs were found to be gas bearing. The total depth of the sidetracked well is 2,943 m (9,656 ft), according to the press release.
