Kentucky USA Energy Inc., London, Ky., (OTCBB: KYUS) has reached total depth on two of its New Albany shale wells in western Kentucky.
Total depth of 2,618 feet was reached on Slinker #2 well, whose logs confirm that 160 feet of shale formation was encountered. Completion has begun on the well, and production casing was expected to have taken place by mid-April.
Kentucky USA has also reached total depth of 2,640 feet on its B Johnston #2 well. Logs by April 24.
The company says its Hunter Wells #4 and Golden Eagle #1 wells have been cemented, with perforation and fracturing of the bottom zone in the Dutch Creek formation taking place on each.
Drilling was also expected to have been reached on Kentucky USA’s Swinney #1 by mid-April, and the contractor has mobilized one of its rigs to the company’s next drilling location, J & Johnston #4, with spud-in expected to begin shortly. The company says weather conditions have made equipment difficult to move, delaying the timeline of tie-in.
Kentucky USA chief executive officer Steven Eversole says, “We are pleased with the progress of our drilling operation to date. Even though the weather has delayed our tie-in schedule, we are confident that we will achieve the tie-in shortly.”
