Hurricane Energy has reported progress on its drilling operation at its Lancaster prospect in the U.K. West of Shetlands region.
The company said drilling, including a one kilometer (0.6 mile) horizontal section on a fractured basement reservoir, has been completed at Lancaster.
The well has encountered target fault zones, which are both fractured and oil-bearing, the company said in a news release. Drilling at Lancaster has now switched to focus on preparing the well for testing.
Drilling is being carried out by the Sedco 712 semisubmersible. Lancaster, which lies across blocks 2015/21a, 205/22a and 205/26b, in P1368, is estimated to contain about 200 MMboe and is operated 100% by Hurricane.
