Hurricane Energy has reported a successful test on its UK Lancaster prospect appraisal well.
After installing an electrical submersible pump down the well, a flow rate of 9,800 bbl/d was achieved—constrained by surface test equipment—while a natural well flow rate of 5,300 bbl/d was attained on the 205/21a-6 test well drilled by the Sedco 712 semisubmersible.
The well was designed to test a 1 km (0.625 mile) horizontal section of the Lancaster prospect drilled through faulted and fractured basement rock.
