Laredo Petroleum Inc. (NYSE: LPI) said Oct. 17 T. Karen Chandler has been promoted to serve as the Permian operator’s senior vice president and COO.
Chandler joined Laredo, based in Tulsa, Okla., in 2012 and served as the company’s vice president of operations since 2016.
Randy A. Foutch, chairman and CEO of Laredo, said Chandler has been instrumental in improving the efficiency of the company’s operational activities, which he said has been “a challenging task as we have worked to optimize our development plan.”
“We are fortunate to have a leader of Karen’s caliber on our team,” Foutch said in a statement.
In the second quarter, Laredo reported production growth attributed to operational efficiencies in drilling and completions, which enabled the company to do more with less.
“As we refocus on capital efficiency in 2019, I am confident that Karen’s team will continue to deliver its impressive operational performance,” Foutch continued.
Prior to joining Laredo, Chandler spent 15 years at Exxon Mobil Corp. (NYSE: XOM) in a variety of managerial and technical roles in the areas of drilling, completions and technology development.
Chandler holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Kentucky, and a Master of Science and Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology.
