Madalena Energy Inc. (TSXV: MVN.V, OTC: MDLNF) completed the testing of PMS-1135, an operated horizontal multifrack well in the Loma Montosa formation in Argentina, the company said April 8.
The well is on Madalena’s wholly owned working interest property at Puesto Morales, the company added.
PMS-1135 was drilled and cased with a tapered monobore assembly to 2,600 m total depth. Its horizontal length is about 1,095 m. The horizontal section had 12 openhole frack packers and ports.
The well used Argentina’s first 12-stage ball drop fracking operation, and all stages used a hybrid slickwater/gel frack that pumped 10,900 bbl of water and 360 tonnes of sand.
Testing began March 30. As of April 8, the well flowed a total of 860 boe/d--480 bbl/d of oil and 2,300 mcf/d of gas at 530 psi and a 47% water cut.
To date the well has recovered 4,931 bbl of water, which is about 45% of the total water-based frack fluid pumped.
The company is working to tie in the well to exisiting infrastructure.
Additionally, Madalena detailed updates on the Coiron Amargo area. Drilling and completions were recently finished on CAN-16, the fourth Sierras Blancas horizontal well.
It was drilled to 4,214 m total depth, with a 1,011-m horizontal lateral section.
Testing began on March 15 and the well was tied into production facilities on March 27. It produced 600 boe/d—480 bbl/d of oil and 730 mcf/d of associated gas at 1,400 psi, Madalena added. The well continues to produce 590 boe/d with a 15% water cut.
Loma Montosa at Puesto Morales is one of Madalena’s four key resource plays in Argentina. It is about 1,250 m vertical depth.
The Calgary, Alberta-based company is using North American-originated horizontal multifrack technology in the play.
