Magnum Hunter Resources Corp. changed its name to Blue Ridge Mountain Resources Inc., the Irving, Texas-based company said Jan. 17.
The name change was part of the company's rebranding following its successful emergence from Chapter 11 in May 2016. The name change took effect Jan. 17, and the company said it expects the full transition will occur over the next few weeks.
Currently, the company's operating subsidiaries in West Virginia, Ohio, Kentucky and North Dakota remain unchanged but are expected to be updated in the near future.
"We are very pleased to be transitioning our corporate name to Blue Ridge Mountain Resources Inc.," John Reinhart, the company's president and CEO, said in a statement. "The rebranding is an integral part of the company's ongoing broader corporate strategy to position the company for growth and value optimization of its core assets."
Blue Ridge Mountain is currently active in the Marcellus and Utica shale plays located in Northwest West Virginia and Southeast Ohio.
