The board of directors at Miller Energy Resources Inc. (NYSE: MILL) appointed John M. Brawley as chief financial officer, the company said Feb. 12.
Brawley had previously been a consultant to Miller Energy, working with its CEO, Scott M. Boruff and its president, David J. Voyticky, the company added.
Brawley was a senior advisor to Miller Energy since Nov. 2013, and, most recently, helped secure a Feb. 5 credit facility of $175 million, the company said.
From 2010 to 2013, Brawley managed the mezzanine energy portfolio for Guggenheim Partners, the company said. Guggenheim Partners, a diversified financial services firm, has more than $190 billion of assets under management, the company added. During this time, he was co-head of Guggenheim’s Houston office, the company added.
Brawley also worked for Lehman Brothers’ energy investment banking, Miller Energy added.
He also worked directly for the chief financial officer of a public exploration and production company, Miller Energy noted.
Brawley holds a BA degree in economics and biological sciences from Rice University, and holds an MBA-accounting and finance, also from Rice, Miller Energy said.
"John was part of the team at Guggenheim Partners which provided Miller with its first institutional loan. In working with him at Guggenheim and in his role leading our most recent financing, we realized that his industry experience and financial expertise would greatly benefit Miller. John has previously worked with our lenders at Apollo and Highbridge and brings another layer of depth to those key relationships," said Boruff.
"With our recently announced second lien financing, continued drilling success, and the addition of John as our CFO, we believe our potential financing sources are greatly enhanced. We are excited about our execution of these key steps to strengthen long term value for our shareholders," he added.
Miller Energy Resources is an oil and natural gas exploration, production and drilling company operating across North America.
