Germany's RWE Dea has reported further drilling success in the Nile Delta region in Egypt after testing a further extension of the Disouq Field area.
After drilling the the NW Khilala 1-4 well, RWE Dea said it has confirmed another positive appraisal of the NW Khilala Field, one of seven with the Disouq gas development area in the Nile Delta area north of Cairo.
The NWK 1-4 well reached a total measured depth of 3,175 m (10,414 ft) and was drilled to test a northwestern limit of the field at a location 2.8 km (1.75 miles) from the original North West Khilala discovery. During testing, NWK 1-4 flowed at up to 450,000 cu. m/d (15.89 MMcf/d) of gas. The well will be tied back to existing production facilities and brought onstream shortly, the company said in a press release.
Along with its partners Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Co, and the Suez Oil Co., RWE Dea aims to produce approximately 11.4 Bcm (402 Bcf) of gas from the seven fields in a first phase of development of the Disouq area.
