Legendary wildcatter, geologist and author Michel (Mike) Halbouty has passed away in Houston at age 95. He was the first independent to explore in Alaska, making a field discovery on the Kenai Peninsula in 1959. That same year he made a six-month speaking tour to promote oil conservation and forced pooling, new concepts at the time. He was the author of numerous geology books and a best-selling history of the Spindletop oil field. Dale P. Jones, a director of Noble Energy Inc., Houston, has passed away. Jones had been a member of Noble’s board since 1998. Jones was also a former vice chairman of Halliburton Co. He retired in 1998 after serving 33 years
