PBF Energy Inc.’s subsidiary completed its acquisition of Chalmette Refining LLC, the parent company said Nov. 2.
The 189,000 barrels per day (Mbbl/d) Chalmette Refinery and related logistics assets were acquired from ExxonMobil Corp. (XOM) and PDV Chalmette LLC.for $322 million plus working capital.
With the acquisition, PBF increased its total throughput capacity to more than 725Mbbl/d. Including PBF’s pending acquisition of the Torrance refinery, the total throughput capacity will be about 900Mbbl/d, making it the fourth-largest independent refiner in North Americaindependent refiner.
For the period of PBF’s ownership of the refinery in the fourth quarter of 2015, about 170Mbbl/d to 190Mbbl/d of total throughput will be produced. The crude slate of primarily medium to heavy-sour crudes oils will be processed.
PBF is also acquiring full ownership of the MOEM Pipeline, providing access to the Empire terminal, as well as the CAM Connection Pipeline, providing access to the LOOP facility through a third-party pipeline.
PBF is also acquiring an 80% ownership in Collins Pipeline Co. and T&M Terminal Co., both in Collins, Miss., providing a clean products outlet for the refinery via the Plantation and Colonial Pipelines. Also included in the transaction are a marine terminal to import waterborne feedstocks and loading or exporting finished products; a clean products truck rack and a crude and product storage facility with about 7.5MMbbl of shell capacity.
