Select Energy Services LLC, an oilfield service and supply company headquartered in Houston, TX, has acquired Water Providers Ltd., a water transfer company which does business under the name of SweetH2O Transfer Services.
SweetH2O has an operational presence in four major shale markets – the Marcellus shale, the Fayetteville shale, the Barnett shale and the Permian basin. Water transfer services entail the movement of water from a source to a drilling location for the purpose of completing a well through hydraulic fracturing.
According to Select, the SweetH2O operations will provide an excellent compliment to Select’s existing water transfer businesses in the Marcellus, Fayetteville and Barnett shale basins and will provide Select’s initial entry into the very active Permian basin in West Texas, allowing Select to use SweetH2O’s operational presence as a base to introduce other Select services.
"The SweetH2O business and management team have been well known to us for many years, and we have had the utmost respect for them as a competitor," said John Schmitz, chief executive officer of Select. "We are delighted to now join forces with Bob Thompson and Tony Fenoglio to continue to build the premier water transfer business in the industry."
"Teaming up with Select will provide us with the financial and human resources that will enable us together to take full advantage of the many growth opportunities we see in the market," said Bob Thompson, president of SweetH2O. "Tony and I are looking forward to growing the Select water transfer businesses."
