Equinor has tapped the Subsea Integration Alliance LLC, comprised of Subsea 7 and OneSubsea, a Schlumberger company, for the engineering, procurement, construction and installation of subsea production systems and pipelines for the $8 billion Bacalhau project offshore Brazil.
At a water depth of 2,050 m in the presalt Santos Basin area, Bacalhau is Brazil’s first integrated SPS and SURF project. The development will include 19 trees and associated subsea equipment, including subsea wellheads, subsea controls and connection systems, and a full completion workover riser, Schlumberger said in a news release June 15.
The SURF scope comprises rigid risers, flowlines, and umbilicals, the company added.
“We have worked closely with Equinor since the FEED award back in 2020,” Subsea Integration Alliance CEO Stuart Fitzgerald said in the release. “Now in the EPCI phase, we will support Equinor in maximizing the Bacalhau field’s potential through Subsea Integration Alliance’s leading portfolio of technologies and services and a ‘one team’ approach to project delivery.”
Project management and detailed engineering will take place in Rio de Janeiro. Offshore activities will begin in 2022 using Subsea 7’s reel-lay, flex-lay and light construction vessels.
Equinor serves as operator of the development. Its partners are Exxon Mobil Corp., Petrogal Brasil and Pré-sal Petróleo SA.
