Offshore support vessel provider Topaz Marine has acquired two vessels that will work in the Caspian Sea for US $100 million.
The Caspian Challenger and Caspian Endeavour, both large anchor-handling towage and supply vessels built by Norway’s Kleven Maritime in 2008 and 2009, have been acquired after being previously operated by Topaz on bareboat charters in the Caspian.
Both have been operating for BP offshore Azerbaijan on the Shah Deniz, Azeri Chirag, and Gunashli fields, providing project support, rig and anchor moves, and supply duties.
The company has 25 vessels operating in the Caspian, with the Topaz fleet due to increase further with the arrival of the 4,000 dwt Caspian Voyager platform supply vessel in 2Q 2014.
