In its second quarter report, Unit Petroleum Co. has announced several well completions in a wide range of unconventional plays, including the Granite Wash, Bakken and Haynesville.

Granite Wash and Cleveland Plays

In these locations, Unit Petroleum has three rigs that are currently in the production stages.

In May, Unit completed its #5H Issacs B, is located in the Granite Wash. Currently, the well has a production rate of approximately 5.6 million cubic feet of gas, 250 barrels of oil and 750 barrels of NGLs per day. This puts the well’s combined equivalent production rate at 11.6 million a day. Completion costs for the well, including 11 fracture stimulation stages, landed at approximately $5.6 million.

Another Granite Wash well, the vertical #2 Webb, was completed in June with flow rates of 2 million cubic feet of gas, 100 barrels of oil and 230 barrels of NGLs per day for an equivalent rate of 4 million cubic feet. Well cost was $1.6 million.

Also completed in June was the #3H Laubhan B, a Cleveland well in which Unit holds 100% working interest. It is currently flowing at 2.9 million cubic feet and 120 barrels of oil per day.

In addition, Unit recently completed drilling operations on two additional Granite Wash wells, the #13H Brown B and #IH Temple A. Fracture stimulation for these wells is scheduled to begin in mid-August.

Bakken Play

Here, Unit reports that its #1H Grasser had its first production in mid-May and was flowing at initial rates as high as 2,000 barrels of oil and 1.4 million cubic feet per day following 20-stage fracture stimulation in the Bakken formation. During the first 45 days of production, the well produced approximately 43,000 barrels of oil equivalent.

The company has drilled a second horizontal well in the Bakken, which it plans to begin fracture stimulating in late July. In addition, a third well is currently drilling.

Haynesville Play

Unit’s #1H Smith, located in Shelby County, Texas, recently underwent an eight-stage fracture stimulation process from a 3,300-foot lateral. Currently, production facilities are being installed and the well is scheduled to have its first gas sales by August.
