Venture Global Calcasieu Pass LLC secured an additional 432 acres for the Calcasieu Pass LNG facility in Cameron Parish, La., through an agreement, parent company Venture Global LNG Inc. said June 2.
There are now has 938 acres for the Calcasieu Pass LNG facility, which will support long-term clean energy in North America. The acquisition nearly doubled Venture’s original amount, William M. Wicker, CEO of Venture Global, said. The land will be used for ship berths, offices, parking and other project-related developments, he added.
Calcasieu Pass will have about 1,500 workers and will create about 130 long-term jobs. The facility is scheduled to be operational in late 2019. During development and operations, environmental protection will be a priority, Venture said.
Pending regulatory approval, Calcasieu Pass could export 10 million metric tonnes of LNG yearly around the world.
