Viking Energy Group Inc. acquired additional working interest in various oil and gas-related leases in Eastern Kansas, the New York-based company said Sept. 12.
Through wholly-owned subsidiary Mid-Con Drilling LLC, Viking purchased a 90% working interest in four new oil and gas leases in Anderson County in Eastern Kansas on Sept. 11 for an undisclosed amount.
The purchase comprises about 980 acres of property and includes an undivided interest in all oil and gas wells, equipment, fixtures and other personal property related to oil and gas operations.
The leases produce oil from the Cherokee Formation at a depth of about 850 feet, and offer the potential for several future drilling locations, according to the company release.
Viking's new leases will be operated by the company's existing operator of record in Kansas, S&B Operating LLC, which is a subsidiary of Kansas Resource Development Co. (KRDC).
KRDC is an operating company in Kansas and Missouri with decades of experience in the oil and gas sector. The company's management team specializes in formulating and operating waterflood EOR programs, the release said.
