The EWS I-43 well found oil on the southeastern part of the East EWS I field in West Siberia. The well flowed water-free oil to the surface at a rate of 595 barrels per day on an 8.0-mm choke.

The was spudded on Sept. 6, and was drilled in 21 days, encountering the Jurassic P reservoir at 1,826 m (6,026 ft), confirming 15.5 m (51 ft) of effective net oil pay within the formation.

The well was drilled directionally 0.7 km to the north from the existing well pad. On completion of testing, the well will be connected to existing production facilities.
