DT Midstream Inc. has completed its expansion of the Haynesville Shale LEAP Phase 1 expansion, increasing its capacity to 1.3 Bcf/d from 1 Bcf/d, according to an Aug. 30 press release. The expansion was finished ahead of its planned fourth quarter in-service date and on budget, the company said.
The pipeline’s Phase 2 expansion remains on track for service by first-quarter 2024 and Phase 3 by third-quarter 2024. The multi-phased project will bring LEAP’s total capacity to 1.9 Bcf/d and provide scalability for further expansions up to 3 Bcf/d.
The 155-mile high-pressure lateral pipeline stretches from the Haynesville shale area in northern Louisiana to Gulf Coast markets.
Domestic industrial and international LNG markets are expected to grow by more than 8 Bcf/d by 2030, DT Midstream said.
“Today, customers on LEAP have access to multiple existing or under construction LNG terminals including Sabine Pass, Cameron, Calcasieu Pass, Plaquemines and Golden Pass via interconnects with Creole Trail, Cameron Interstate Pipeline, Texas Eastern and Transco,” the company said.
David Slater, DT Midstream president and CEO, said the Phase 1 expansion’s early in-service is a key first step in providing customers with “wellhead to water” access to premium LNG markets.
“We are proud to support U.S. sourced LNG exports to the world at a time when energy security and affordability are paramount,” he said.
