The Moomba-191 shale well is flowing natural gas at a stabilized rate of 2.7 MMscf/d from the Roseneath, Epsilon, and Murteree shale targets, according to a news release.
Preliminary interpretation of log data in the unconventional well indicated the Permian target zone is likely to be gas saturated from the Toolachee Formation through the Patchawarra Formation.
Senex drilled the Skipton-1 exploration well to test the unconventional gas potential of the shale and tight gas sands of the Roseneath-Epsilon-Murteree package as well as the tight gas sands and deep coal seams of the Patchawarra formation, according to a news release.
World's largest unconventional resource events travel to Brisbane in August 2013.
The well is currently being cased and suspended as a future oil producer.
The Senecio-2 well, which had been fracture stimulated over a five meter perforation interval in the Dongara and Wagina tight sandstone formation, was successfully flow-tested for more than 40 hours through the well test separator package.
Under the farm-out agreement, Santos will fund exploration by investing an initial $30 million (US $31 million), with options to invest an additional $60 million (US $62 million) in stage two and another $60 million in stage three, according to a news release.
The well has drilled a further 534 meters and has penetrated the Patchawarra formation.
At 2670 metres the well intersected an interval of sandstone with elevated gas values in the Nappamerri Formation approximately 530 metres above the primary target Roseneath Epsilon & Murteree (REM) section.
A total of 14 metres of coal core samples were put on desorption testing to measure gas content.
