Acquired 50% interest in Lot 110 in the Ucayali Basin, 25% interest in Lot 117 in eastern Peru.

Through its affiliate in Peru, Ecopetrol S.A., Bogota, (NYSE: EC) entered two agreements in Peru with Petrobras Energia del Peru SA, a subsidiary of Petrobras Energia SA, Buenos Aires, Argentina. In the first block (Lot 110), Ecopetrol will have a 50% share. In the second (Lot 117), the company will have a 25% participation. Both blocks are in eastern Peru. Block 117 with an extension of 13,865 square kilometers is on the Colombia and Ecuador border, Block 110 with an extension of 14,831 square kilometers is on the Ucayali Basin.
