Bought LA-based oilfield service company.

Lafayette, La.-based Wellbore Energy Solutions Inc. has acquired Lafayette-based Jackal Services LLC for an undisclosed price. Jackal Services changed its name to Environmental Drilling Solutions LLC to reflect the company's zero discharge rig containment systems which reduce the environmental impact associated with oil-based drilling fluids, including direct drive vacuum systems and state-of-the-art cuttings handling/processing equipment and services. Environmental Drilling has facilities in Maurice and Shreveport, La., Coalgate, Okla. and Heber Springs, Ark. Wellbore chief executive Kirby Arceneaux says, "This is a great opportunity for us to diversify our service portfolio. Like Wellbore, Environmental Drilling Solutions is comprised of an experienced management team of specialists dedicated to applying innovative rig site solutions for clients." Wellbore partnered with existing investor NGP Energy Technology Partners for the purchase. NGP Energy Technology Partners vice president Michael LeBourgeois says, "The EDS acquisition is an excellent fit with Wellbore, and it expands upon our strategy to develop a diversified service business around a team we strongly support."
