Bought oilfield-services company that designs jackups, drilling packages, deep-water platforms and decks, and semiâ€submersibles.
Houston-based oilfield services company Texas ReExcavation LC has acquired GSPE Engineering Inc. for an undisclosed price and has formed TRex Engineering & Construction LC. GSPE analyzes and designs jackups, drilling packages, deepâ€water platforms and decks and semiâ€submersibles for the oil and gas industry. Notable subsea projects it has worked on include all pipeline end terminals for the Nakika, Llano, Princess and Perdido fields. The new company will focus on the construction of offshore oil and gas equipment including buildâ€toâ€specification pipeline end terminals and manifolds, umbilical termination assembly frames, pig launchers and other equipment. GSPE founder Gary A. Sidwell has been named president of the new group. Sidwell says, "Basically, we speak their language and we believe we are unmatched in our ability to provide engineering services as an independent fabrication company. This integration gives Tâ€Rex E&C the means to take on a project at any stage, ensuring a smooth transition for our clients and resulting in fewer change orders and lower costs." TRex chief executive Bobby Hillin Jr. says, "We welcome GSPE into the Tâ€Rex family as this dynamic new team brings a wealth of deepwater engineering experience to our fabrication and construction division. The combined team now has extensive experience in design, analysis and fabrication utilizing the latest technology." Hillin was a former NASCAR driver and winner of the Talladega 500. He says, "The components for success are very similar: safety, quality and teamwork are just three tenets that we use to challenge each other on a daily basis," stated Hillin.
