North Peace Energy Corp., Calgary, (Toronto Venture: NPE) has closed the acquisition of the working interest in certain oil-sands leases in the Red Earth area of north-central Alberta from joint-venture partners Peace Oil Corp. and parent Surge Global Energy Inc., San Diego, (OTCBB: SRGG) for C$15 million in cash and C$5 million in stock for a total deal valued at C$20 million. The assets include 30% working interest on approximately 86,000 gross (60,000 net) oil-sands acres. North Peace is operator and, pro forma, will have 100% working interest in the project.
