GeoPetro Resources Co., San Francisco, (Amex: GPR; Toronto: GEP) has acquired 4,480 undeveloped acres (1,493 net) in the Swan Hills-Whitecourt area of northwestern Alberta from an undisclosed seller for an undisclosed price. The South Whitecourt prospect was initially identified by airborne survey in 2006 by Energy Exploration Technologies Inc. using stress-field detection technology. The first well will target the Swan Hills and Gilwood formations at approximately 2,800 meters (9,184 feet). GeoPetro has projects in the United States, Canada and Indonesia.
