Energy service-provider Direct Energy Marketing Ltd., Calgary, a subsidiary of British Centrica Plc (London: CNA) has acquired Rockyview Energy Inc., Calgary, (Toronto: RVE) for approximately C$77 million in cash. Direct paid C$3.16 per Rockyview share for some 92% of all shares. It will acquire the remaining shares through a compulsory acquisition. Rockyview is 93% weighted to gas, with conventional and coalbed-methane (CBM) operations in the Wood River area of central Alberta. The company also holds assets in the Wetaskiwin, Bittern, Clive, Knellar, Stettler and Millet regions. Production is 1,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day. Additional assets include 55,000 net undeveloped acres with 168 (93 net) drilling locations identified. Rockyview will be delisted. All Rockyview officers and directors other than John Howard will resign.
