To acquire 50% WI in Tomskneft unit producing 240,000 BO/d.
Russian oil firm Gazprom plans to acquire a 50% interest in the East Siberian Tomskneft unit from Russian state-controlled Rosneft for US$3.66 billion, according to Russian news agencies. Rosneft acquired the Tomskneft unit in May in a state auction of assets of bankrupt oil company Yukos. The unit produces 240,000 barrels of oil per day. Gazprom, the world's largest producer of gas, is expanding its oil footprint. The sale represents about 5% of Rosneft's production.
