Austral Pacific Energy Ltd., Wellington, New Zealand, (Toronto Venture: APX; Amex: AEN) plans to acquire privately held, New Zealand-based International Resource Management Corp. Ltd. for an undisclosed price in cash and stock. International Resources' principal asset is a 19.8% interest in the Cardiff gas field (PMP 38156). Austral Pacific president and chief executive Thom Jewell says, "This transaction will effectively increase the Austral Pacific interest in the Cardiff asset to 44.9%." Cardiff testing is under way and results are expected soon.
