To acquire 25% WI in Eitri prospect PL 027B, 7 km. from Jotun Field.
Pertra ASA, Oslo, Norway, (Oslo: PERTRA) plans to acquire a 25% interest in a North Sea prospect from ExxonMobil Corp., Irving, Texas, (NYSE: XOM) for an undisclosed price. The interest is in the Eitri prospect in PL 027B, seven kilometers from Jotun Field. Pertra will operate one exploration well and plans to use the Bredford Dolphin rig for drilling beginning in the second quarter of 2008. Pertra will earn a 25% interest in the license (excluding Jotun Field) by carrying ExxonMobil's part of the costs associated with one well for its remaining 25% interest. The area outside Jotun Field will be designated as a new license, PL 027D. Pertra vice president of portfolio management Sigmund Hanslien says, "Pertra considers the Eitri prospect to be a very interesting exploration opportunity, an analog to the nearby Ringhorne Field and in the same Paleocene play model as our recent Storskrymten discovery. We also see additional potential in the deeper Jurassic section. We are looking forward to cooperating with ExxonMobil and their partner Dana Petroleum in pursuing this opportunity."
