In a move to transition from a mining company to an E&P, Dallas-based Mesa Energy Holdings Inc., (OTCBB: MSEH) fka Mesquite Mining Inc., has acquired Nevada-incorporated Mesa Energy Inc. in a reverse merger for an undisclosed price in stock. Mesa Energy assets include a 100% working interest (78% average net revenue interest) in the 3,235-acre Java Field gas project in Wyoming County in western New York, with Marcellus shale potential that was acquired in August. The acquisition includes 19 leases held by production, 19 existing gas wells, two tracts of land totaling approximately 36 acres and two pipeline systems. Mesa Energy estimates Java Field potential reserves at 40 billion cubic feet of gas based on 40-acre spacing (80 locations). Mesa Energy also owns a 25% to 35% working interest in the Coal Creek gas prospect in Sequoyah County, Oklahoma. Two Coal Creek wells, Cook #1 and Gipson #1, have been completed, tested and connected to a third-party pipeline to begin gas sales. Mesa Energy estimates Coal Creek total gross proved reserves at 5.15 billion cubic feet of gas (1.165 billion net). Probable and possible reserves are approximately 5.24 billion cubic feet net.
