To acquire 654,000 acres in Australia's Cooper Basin.
Avery Resources (Australia) Pty Ltd., a subsidiary of Bengal Energy Ltd., Calgary, (Toronto: BNG) plans to acquire a 654,000-acre block in Australia's Cooper Basin from an undisclosed seller. Financial terms of the agreement have not been released. Avery has agreed to purchase a 100% working interest in the block, which has a 12-year term and a minimum work commitment consisting of 2-D acquisition and the drilling of one well within the first four years. Bengal says its technical team has identified several potential Jurassic-age oil plays and deeper Permian-age gas plays. The acquisition increases Bengal's net undeveloped land to more 2.3 million acres. The acquisition is expected to close in first-quarter 2010.
