To acquire additional 5.875% WI in Bayou Couba Field, LA.

American Natural Energy Corp., Tulsa, Okla., (Toronto Venture: ANR) plans to acquire an aggregate 5.875% working interest in its Bayou Couba Field in Louisiana from eight owners in a cash and stock deal.

The purchase price for the assets, located in the company's core of operations, St. Charles Parish, includes US$144,500 in cash and the issuance of 325,000 shares of common stock, worth approximately C$9,100 (US$8,820), based on a trading price of C$0.028 on Dec. 23, 2009.
