Acquired interest in Russian JV with 396.8 MMBOE reserves.

Total Termokarstovoye BV, an affiliate of Total SA, has closed its acquisition of an interest in the Yamal Nenets region of Russia from ZAO Terneftegas, a subsidiary of OAO Novatek, Moscow, (London: NVTK) for an undisclosed sum.

Total's share in Termokarstovoye Field will increase to 49% by the end of 2010 as a result of the agreement. The gas field's reserves are estimated at 396.8 million barrels of oil equivalent.

The transaction has received approval from Russia's anti-monopoly regulator.
