Strike Energy Ltd., West Perth, Australia, (Australia: STX) has acquired a 27.5% position in the Eagle Ford shale play through a joint venture with four undisclosed Texas-based E&Ps.

The deal involves approximately 8,500 gross acres, with Strike's net position at about 2,300 acres. This acreage is northwest of Strike's existing production and exploration activities focused on the Wilcox trend.
