Chesapeake Energy Corp.

Chesapeake Energy Corp. has retained Meagher Oil & Gas Properties Inc. to sell an exploratory acreage play with multiple reservoir objectives in Oklahoma. The package includes more than 50% ownership with an average 27% working interest in 100,000 net acres in 590 governmental sections in Bryan and Choctaw counties. The average lease burden is 18.8% with expirations as late as 2013. Multiple objectives include the Stanley, Polk Creek shale, Womble shale, Woodford shale and Big Creek Chert. XTO Energy is currently drilling on the acreage. The bid due date is Nov. 24. The effective date is Nov. 1. The closing is expected on Dec. 19. Contact Jacque Semple, 918-481-5900, ext. 221.
