Chesapeake Energy Corp.

Chesapeake Energy Corp. has retained Meagher Oil and Gas Properties Inc. to sell certain assets in the New Albany shale in Illinois and Kentucky. The package includes more than 228,000 net acres in Crittenden, Livingston, Marshall, Union and Webster counties, Kentucky, and Hardin, Jackson, Johnson, Massac, Pope and Saline counties, Illinois. The majority of the leases expire in 2010 and 2011 with three- to five-year extensions. Much of the acreage is in the Rough Creek Graben Basin with exposure to 300 to 400 feet of New Albany shale.
