Compton Petroleum Corp., Calgary, (NYSE: CMZ; Toronto: CMT) has retained Tristone Capital Inc. and UBS Securities Canada Inc. to seek strategic alternatives for the company that could include a sale or asset divestments. Compton focuses on the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin in Alberta, primarily targeting the Plains Belly River and Edmonton Horseshoe Canyon zones, and three deep gas plays: the Basal Quartz sands at Hooker, the stacked, thrusted Foothills Upper Cretaceous Belly River play at Callum, and the Gething/Rock Creek sands at Niton in central Alberta.
