Select Energy Services Expands Bakken Presence With IWF Acquisitions

Acquired flowback service company operating in ND & OK, gaining extreme-weather flowback units designed to withstand freezing temperatures.

Houston-based oilfield service company Select Energy Services LLC has acquired Williston, N.D.-based International Western Flowback LLC for an undisclosed price.

International Western Flowback provides flowback services in North Dakota and Oklahoma to manage extreme weather conditions. IWF has engineered specialized flowback units designed to withstand freezing temperatures that allows them to maintain drilling and production activities during the winter months.

The acquisition expands Select’s presence in the Bakken region and extends Select’s water solutions offerings in the region to include well-testing in addition to water sourcing and water transfer services.

Select Energy chief executive John Schmitz says, “The regional demand for winterized flowback equipment and services is extensive and Select’s entry into this important service line is a significant step forward. Flowback operations in the Bakken are quite different from those in other shale plays due to the harsh conditions, and IWF is a leader in developing the technical expertise and specialized flowback equipment essential to successfully operating in the Bakken region.”
