Evan Turner
“My career growth as a whole—from geologist to equity research, investment banking and then private equity, all focused on energy and infrastructure investments—has provided me access to a comprehensive understanding of how capital markets play an important role in the oil and gas industry.”
Career path: Today, he’s directly responsible for all aspects of Drillcore’s activities, including fundraising, co-investments, investor relations, transaction sourcing, structuring and execution, and portfolio management. Drillcore seeks control-oriented equity investments in upstream- focused, asset-backed opportunities.
Before Drillcore, Turner was a sector head and a director at StormHarbour Partners LP, a New York-based alternative asset manager and merchant bank. He was previously a vice president at CohnReznick Capital and co-launched its oil and gas group. Turner also worked as an associate at Canaccord Genuity, at GlobalData as a senior analyst, and has worked for an oilfield services company now part of Patterson-UTI.
Industry inspiration: Turner, an engineer at heart, finds the technical aspects of the industry fascinating. “Seeing the continued enhancements to completions and recovery methods will allow oil and gas operators to recover more than previous methods, increasing the revenues for the companies and their investor base.”
Advice for young professionals: “Make an impact in every role at every level.”
