Houston-based Chevron Corp. reported that it hit more than 670 ft of net pay at a well on its Ballymore prospect in Mississippi Canyon Block 607. The #1 (BP2) OCS G34451 was drilled to 29,194 ft and the pay zone has excellent reservoir and fluid characteristics. A sidetrack, #1 (ST) OCS G34451, is currently being drilled to further assess the discovery and begin to define development options. Water depth in the area is 6,530 ft. Other tracts in the Ballymore prospect include Block 650 (OCS G34905) and Block 651 (OCS G34454). Chevron operates and holds a 60% stake in the prospect and Total owns the remaining 40% interest.
