New York City-based Hess Corp. has scheduled a development test in the company’s Stampede Field, a deepwater Miocene reservoir. The #4SB OCS G26315 will be drilled in the northern half of Green Canyon Block 512, and area water depth is 3,500 ft. Stampede is a joint development of the Pony and Knotty Head discoveries. In May 2019, six Hess-owned wells in the area recovered 1 MMbbl of crude and 518 MMcf of gas from Upper Miocene at around 30,000 ft. Cumulative field production is more than 10 MMbbl.
