Jennifer Pallanich, senior technology editor, Hart Energy: Find out what tech trend could be the solution to optimizing oil and gas production in this episode.
Data silos, the limits of technology and the fact that each reservoir and development approach is unique, have long frustrated the oil and gas industry's efforts to optimally manage their field production and to make sense of all of the interdependencies of production. Digital technologies such as artificial intelligence, machine learning and the cloud have paved the way for a new solution created by Baker Hughes and AWS. Leucipa combines AWS cloud capabilities with the oil and gas expertise of Baker Hughes to help operators optimize production at their fields. Leucipa was announced in February, and since then, about a half dozen companies have become early adopters. While the code is still being written, the expectation is that those early adopters will get their first taste of Leucipa come mid-year.
