TGS has launched a 3D reprocessing project in India’s Krishna-Godavari (KG) Basin using modern techniques to maximize the value of legacy data, the company said Jan. 28.
Spanning 16,900 sq km of legacy 3D surveys, TGS’ KG Basin Mega 3D project will utilize cutting-edge broadband seismic reprocessing, including pre-stack time migration, pre-stack depth migration and full waveform inversion, according to a press release.
The KG is a petroliferous basin located on the east coast of India, according to the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas.
The KG Basin Mega 3D project encompasses 10,900 sq km of open acreage available in the upcoming 10th Open Acreage Licensing Policy (OALP) bid round blocks. TGS said the reprocessed seismic data will enable E&Ps to more clearly evaluate opportunities.
TGS said the reprocessing will result in contiguous high-resolution imaging, enabling detailed exploration of tertiary stratigraphic plays and deeper synrift play prospects.
The project, commencing in January, is expected to deliver final advanced seismic products by April 2026, with fast-track data available in second-quarter 2025, TGS said.
