Baker Hughes has been awarded a contract to provide integrated coiled-tubing drilling services for Dubai Petroleum Establishment’s (DPE) Margham Gas storage project, according to a March 26 press release.
Baker Hughes is already supplying the project with integrated compressor line units for gas storage, injection and export. The company will utilize its CoilTrak system designed to maximize reservoir contact during horizontal drilling, which is key for underground gas storage.
The project is expected to provide stability to Dubai’s energy supply by strengthening the system’s ability to switch between natural gas and solar power, Baker Hughes said.
“Our integrated solutions approach combines industry-leading technology and expertise across the energy value chain to help DPE scale up and develop reliable, secure and lower-carbon power solutions for their country,” said Amerino Gatti, executive vice president of Oilfield Services & Equipment at Baker Hughes.
