Devon Energy has joined the growing group of energy producers announcing net-zero emissions goals by 2050. 

The independent shale producer’s net-zero pathway includes reducing Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse-gas emissions by 50% by 2030, reducing methane emissions intensity by 65% by 2030, and eliminating flaring by 2030.

But Devon has also made it a priority to also diversify its workforce and social efforts, introducing a “blended values” concept, and launched inclusion and equity grant programs at its home city of Oklahoma City, according to Garrett Jackson, the company’s vice president, ESG and EHS.

Hart Energy recently spoke with Jackson about the company’s ESG goals, and how it plans to achieve those goals.
