Brandon Lakatta, vice president of land at Pioneer Natural Resources Co., is today's featured Forty Under 40 honoree.
Although he originally planned on pursuing a finance or business degree in school, Lakatta was introduced to the oil and gas industry by a friend, who later became his wife. Since then, he has remained fascinated by the sector's impact on the world.
"She and I took the intro to PLM class together, and I immediately knew that I wanted to be in the industry," he said. "To this day, I remain amazed by the technical feats that our companies perform every day."
As a leader within his company, Lakatta encourages his staff to share valuable skills with the team to result in more well-informed decisions and efficiency in working on projects.
"I encourage everyone to be open and share key learnings or identify opportunities to knowledge-share in the event a unique issue or project arises," he said. "This has resulted in opportunities for collaboration and team building throughout the organization."
Through Pioneer, Lakatta shows his support for the community through volunteering with organizations such as Habitat for Humanity, Special Olympics and Dallas CASA.
