TotalEnergies has withdrawn from Block 11B/12B, in which its affiliate TotalEnergies EP South Africa holds a 45% interest, the company announced July 29. This decision comes after CNR International, former partner in the field, exited the field in June.
TotalEnergies EP South Africa held a 45% interest in the Brulpadda and Luiperd gas discoveries, located off the southern coast of South Africa. Discovered in 2013, the discoveries proved too challenging to economically develop and monetize, making them unable to be turned into a commercial development, the company said.
TotalEnergies also said it has decided to exit from offshore exploration Block 5/6/7 where TotalEnergies EP South Africa currently holds a 40% interest.
